This course provides a conceptual foundation of the purpose of accounting, what an accounting system is and how this system provides information about business activities. In exploring major financial statements, this course provides insights into how an external stakeholder can use financial statements and other information to make decisions about a business’ performance and future value.
Accounting is a universal discipline, encompassing the successful management of financial resources of the public sector, businesses, and individuals. It is foundational to all organisations across all industries and assists in discharging accountability and financial control.
