Design, implementation & presentation of a research project with emphasis on defining the research issue, establishing methodology, undertaking appropriate analysis of data & drawing defensible conclusion.
Students must submit the Research Project Contract by the first Thursday of February for students commencing in semester 1, and the first Thursday of July for students commencing in semester 2 to agriculture@enquire.uq.edu.au.
NOTE: Students completing their project at St Lucia or at an external institute should enrol in the Gatton Internal mode of offer. Contact agriculture@enquire.uq.edu.au for enrolment queries.
Students enrolled into a 2 year Masters program should not enrol into this course until they have completed 16-units of study (2 semesters full-time equivalent)
Students enrolled into a 1.5 year Masters program should not enrol into this course until they have completed 8-units of study (1 semesters full-time equivalent)
In the #4 Graduate Research Project, you have the opportunity to study an Animal Science/Agriculture/Agribusinessᅠrelated issue in depth. In consultation with an academic staff member you will develop a research proposal and conduct a systematic literature review or other form ofᅠdesktop research or a case study/analysis as agreed with the supervisor and course coordinator. Upon the completion of your study, you will be given an opportunity to present your research and write a report in the format of a short research communication. This course does not require you to collect primary data.ᅠᅠ ᅠ Enrolment in this course ᅠ This course has an enrolment permission list in Si-net and only students with an approved Application Learning Contract are allowed to enrol. Students must work with theirᅠacademic supervisor to complete the Application Learning Contract and submit it by the first Thursday of July to agriculture@enquire.uq.edu.au ᅠ If the Application Learning Contract is approvedᅠthe studentᅠwill be given permission to enrol in the course.

Task description
The research proposal should describe the research problem which can be addressed by reviewing existing literature or secondary data sources in a systematic way, specify its importance and detail the methods to be used and why they are appropriate. The document should be no more than 1,000 words. It should contain sufficient information for the supervisor to assess the degree to which the student is familiar with the background and history of the problem and has assessed the strengths and weaknesses of previous work in the area.
This assessment task evaluates students' abilities, skills and knowledge without the aid of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Translation (MT). Students are advised that the use of AI or MT technologies to develop responses is strictly prohibited and may constitute student misconduct under the Student Code of Conduct.
Submission guidelines
Students should submit an electronic copy either as a word or pdf file via Turnitin on the course Blackboard site by the submission deadline. You should also retain an electronic copy of every piece of assessment you submit.

Task description
The research project presentation is compulsory. Students are required to submit a 10 minutes long pre-recorded video presentation via course Blackboard site. Students should use appropriate visual aids (e.g. PowerPoint Slides) based on the UQ template to assist your presentation, also clearly showing the presenter's video on the presentation.

Submit your Presentation twice, via the submission links in the course blackboard site by the due date and time. Recorded presentations are big files and take time to upload, please allow enough time to upload it twice. We require it to be submitted twice because two markers will mark it. The marks will then be averaged and that is the mark you will receive for your Presentation. You should also retain an electronic copy of every piece of assessment you submit. Task description
The research project report should be presented in the format of a short communication. The word limit is in the range of 4,000 – 6,000 words.

Unless specifically indicated by the course coordinator, every attempt will be made to have the results for progressive assessment available within 3 weeks of submission. For items of assessment submitted in the last 2 weeks of the semester, the results will not be available until grades release day.
