Acquire basic clinical skills through an introduction to audiological test procedures.
AUDL7111 is an introductory course within the Master of Audiology Studies program. It uses lectures, practical's and problem-based learning exercises to introduce basic audiological procedures to audiology students. Students will learn the principles and practice of the basic hearing tests, including otoscopy, pure-tone audiometry, acoustic immittance and speech audiometry,ᅠmake accurate diagnoses based on the test findings and recommend management strategies for adult clients with a hearing loss. Students will follow relevant guidelines, standards and legal obligations and relevant workplace health and safety legislation and workplace policies in conducting hearing screening and assessments.

Critically evaluate assessment results using knowledge, clinical judgement, test calibration and reliability considerations to formulate valid conclusions regarding the site of lesion and functionality of non-complex ear, hearing, and associated conditions.
LO4.
Synthesise information from a range of sources to develop recommendations for intervention, including audiological therapy, technology, modifications to the environment, and/or further referrals in line with the non-complex client’s goals and needs.
LO5.
Generate accurate and complete reports, case notes, and other forms of communication that conform with medical and legal requirements and appropriately communicate assessment results with client to facilitate informed decision making.
