This course will support people currently working in health care systems or who seek careers in health care systems to engage effectively with digital health in practice for the benefit of patients. Students will gain an understanding and appreciation of clinical governance, ethics and information management as well as the practical aspects of introducing and working with new technology in different working environments.
This course will assist students to develop skills in selecting and implementing digital health technologies to address real-world challenges. Students will explore different aspects of digital health implementation including identifying barriers to adopting new technology; developing problem statements; clinical governance, privacy, and ethics; communication strategies; and using digital health and clinical informatics to advance the provision of evidence-based care. Students will also learn about the procurement process within a healthcare setting and how to prepare a healthcare budget in the context of digital health implementation.
Over the 13-week online program, students will develop a coherent understanding of clinical, business, and technological terminologies and processes required to implement digital health in various healthcare systems. Students will also learn from industry-leading champions on existing digital health projects and how to successfully navigate the diverse healthcare landscape. ᅠIn the conclusion of this course, students will prepare a digital health implementation plan of a technology to address a self-selected challenge in a real-world health context.

Task description
This assessment starts the process of you designing an implementation plan for a digital health intervention in a healthcare setting of your choice. You will demonstrate your understanding of the challenges faced by the existing healthcare setting and how digital health can address these challenges.
Individually, you will create a 10-item annotated bibliography and a 300-word synthesis of the evidence, then conclude with a problem statement. In the synthesis, you will briefly outline the healthcare setting of your choice and create a problem statement. Your problem statement will define a challenge faced by the healthcare setting that can be addressed by a digital health intervention. Discuss why this problem needs to be addressed and how it will advance the Quadruple aim of healthcare.
Submission guidelines
The assignment should be uploaded electronically using Turn-it-in through the course Blackboard site. A submission portal will be made available via Blackboard.
Deferral or extension
You may be able to apply for an extension.
The maximum extension allowed is 14 days. Extensions are given in multiples of 24 hours.
Marked submissions with feedback and/or detailed solutions with feedback will be released to students within 21-28 days, where the earlier time frame applies if no extensions.
Late submission
A penalty of 10% of the maximum possible mark will be deducted per 24 hours from time submission is due for up to 7 days. After 7 days, you will receive a mark of 0.

Task description
Throughout this course, you have been developing the knowledge and skills to implement a digital health intervention in a healthcare service. This assessment is an opportunity for you to apply your understanding of the course content to a setting specific to you in an oral pitch. In this task, your operational unit would likely comprise the clinicians who form part of the transplant team. For example, if you are introducing an ieMR dashboard for patients undergoing lung transplant, your operational unit would likely be the clinician’s part of the transplant team. Ensure that your presentation is targeted and addresses the specific needs for your audience.

These sections and topics are covered and discussed extensively in detail over this course. You are strongly encouraged to continue with the digital health intervention submitted for assessment from earlier in the course. Changes to the digital health intervention and healthcare setting can be discussed with the course coordinator on an individual basis.
