The Capstone project is a substantial, individual research-informed project tacking a cyber security problem from academia, government or industry, aligned with the individual student’s MCyber Field of Study. The course aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to define, research and execute a significant cyber security project. This involves a precise problem formulation, project plan and execution, and effective communication with project stakeholders.

The Master of Cyber Security capstone project requires students to bring together their discipline knowledge,ᅠanalyticᅠand interpretive skills to execute a project in an academic or organisational/industry setting. This course is the second part of the capstone project and involves

  • undertaking original research and/or development in the project defined in CYBR7901 Cyber Security Capstone 1
  • working independently under appropriate supervision to develop and refine the project outcomes
  • tracking and communicating project progress to academic and industry/organisational supervisors (if relevant)
  • communicating project and research outcomes in written and oral form in appropriate forms for the relevant audience

Project supervision will be provided by the allocated academic supervisor. Industry and organisational-based projects will also have an industry supervisor to provide organisational context and support.

  • preparing and delivering a seminar communication the project overview and outcomes

Learning outcomes

After successfully completing this course you should be able to:

LO1.

Propose a solution to address the research problem identified from different cyber security discipline areas.

LO2.

Write a comprehensive project report, accurately capturing all elements of the project, written in the appropriate voice for the appropriate target audience (research and/or technical/organisational).
