This course is the second of the discipline-specific clinical courses for DClinDent students and continues on from DENT8010. The objectives are to progressively build competence and confidence at first year level in specialty clinical practice and knowledge.

By the end of this course, students will demonstrate discipline-specific foundational knowledge and clinical skills. Students will also demonstrate effective communication with other disciplines and management of patient information.

DENT8020 builds directly on the platform provided during DENT8010 and assumes a detailed knowledge of undergraduate material within the discipline and provides the opportunity to complete any revision and add depth to the materials already covered.

This is an intense part of the training program.ᅠCandidates are exposed toᅠadvanced patient management and the commencement/progression of cases for examination and long cases. They are expected to demonstrate their level of application and understanding of didactic materials, and their suitability for progression within the specialist discipline. The examination at the end of semester must be completed successfully before progression to the second year of the program.
