Individual study on approved topic selected from historical, sociological, psychological, biomechanical, physiological, pedagogical or health-related aspects of human movement and nutrition sciences. Advanced study in area of specialisation required prior to enrollment.
HMST6965 is a two unit course within the postgraduate program that provides an opportunity for students to undertake supervised project work.ᅠ
The requirements for the projects are very flexible, and individually negotiated between the student and an appropriate member of academic staff who serves as the project adviser. Students intending to undertake a project course should contact the course coordinator in the first instance to discuss potential topics and advisers. In some cases it may be useful to also identify a suitable person to act as a local adviser for the project.
After obtaining agreement from an adviser, the next step is to define the project in as much detail as possible in the form of a project proposal. At a minimum this document should set out the objectives of the project, the steps which will be undertaken as part of the project, and the way in which the project will be documented for assessment purposes. This document should be prepared as early as possible and agreement negotiated with the adviser (and a copy provided to the course coordinator).

Aims and outcomes
In this course students are required to undertake an individual research project in the area of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences to gain further experience in research. The experiences should allow the student a greater understanding of the research process within Human Movement Studies and develop new skills appropriate for conducting research in a chosen area of study.

Additional assessment information
Research projects are graded by the project adviser/supervisor and the course coordinator, with the average of marks used. An external marker will be sought in the case of a conflict of interest or disparity of marks. It is recommended that regular contact is made with the advisor to ensure the project progresses adequately. Meetings with the course coordinator will also be scheduled to provide opportunity to check progress.ᅠPlease contact the course coordinator well before submission time if you wish to check whether the submission is appropriate.

This tasks in this course have been designed to be challenging, authentic and complex. Whilst students may use AI and/or MT technologies, successful completion of assessment in this course will require students to critically engage in specific contexts and tasks for which artificial intelligence will provide only limited support and guidance.
A failure to reference generative AI or MT use may constitute student misconduct under the Student Code of Conduct.
To pass assessment tasks, students will be required to demonstrate detailed comprehension of their written submission independent of AI and MT tools.
