Task description
You must reflect on the required course readings for each week and consider how key concepts and principles presented in those readings affect your own leadership competence. This course requirement is formative and does not attract any marks toward your final grade. However, the course process is designed to assist you in identifying and capturing key reflections on course concepts you will analyze in your final graded individual reflective essay.
The work you undertake in preparing and presenting these reflections will be integrated into (and form part of) your final graded individual reflective essay (60% of your grade).
You must compose your own written individual reflections, submit them to Turnitin, and post them on the course Blackboard discussion board prior to each scheduled seminar. Then, you will orally present your reflections at the beginning of each seminar and discuss them with your peers and the course instructor.
Your reflections must be 400-500 words each using the following format and prompts:
Background: What was my prior understanding of this topic?
Incident: How has my understanding of this topic changed as a result of these readings?
Sustain: What will I sustain or do the same in the future?
Improve: What will I improve or do differently in the future?
Next actions: What actions will I take next?
More detailed instructions for this assignment are posted under Assessments on the course Blackboard site.
AI tools and technologies are prohibited in this assessment and any detected use will be considered academic misconduct.
Submission guidelines
You must submit each written reflection through Turnitin on the course Blackboard Assessment link before posting them to the course Blackboard Discussion Board.

Task description
This is an individual project where you'll create and submit a pre-recorded video presentation, not to exceed 15 minutes in duration. You must conduct an individual case study analysis of the events surrounding the leaking of U.S. government information by Edward Snowden in 2013. You will conduct your analysis using concepts and principles from the course while also assuming a cyber security leader's perspective, imagining yourself as a senior leader in the U.S. government, responsible for dealing with the events and outcomes of the Snowden incident.
You are required to watch the documentary film, Snowden's Great Escape (2015) (in the course learning resources and available through the UQ library) and use case study materials provided by the instructor. However, you may use additional resources such as print and online articles, government press releases and briefings, the documentary film Citizenfour (2014), and the movie, Snowden (2016) (which are also available through the UQ library).
You must use the following format and prompts for your analysis and presentation:
Background: What is your understanding of the situation leading up to the incident? What was supposed to happen?
Incident: What occurred? What actually did happen? (Use the '5W's+' (Who, What, When, Where, How and Why) to relate the incident.)
Sustain: What three (3) things would you continue to do in the future and why? (Apply course concepts here.)
Improve: What three (3) things would you do differently in the future and why? (Apply course concepts here.)
Next Actions: What actions will you take next and why? (Apply course concepts here.)
Additional information:
- A separate grading rubric will be used to assess the quality of the presentation. Students should refer to this rubric when producing their presentation.
- Students can determine the best format for their pre-recorded video presentations (e.g., PowerPoint slides, live demonstration, animated video).
- Video presentations should be submitted via Blackboard.
AI tools and technologies are prohibited in this assessment and any detected use will be considered academic misconduct.
