Integrated Strategic Analysis is an integrative course taken at the start of the program in order to embed the key concepts needed throughout the rest of the MBA. This course allows students to case-study methods to analyse, synthesise and present conclusions and recommendatons on issues of business strategy.
MGTS7803 Integrated Strategic Analysis provides the foundations to understand the key strategic decisions of an organisation and its implications for competitive advantage and firm performance. It is an applied course that reviews mainstream contemporary thinking and models in strategic management, using a combination of lectures, teamwork and case study discussions. Course participants will work in teams to apply the ideas and tools discussed in class to a real organisation of their choice. Each team will present an analysis of their chosen organisation to the class and provide recommendations for its future strategy; the implementation of these recommendations will be articulated in a written report. Online case study simulations will also be run during a number of seminars for individual students to work through and discuss.

Aims and outcomes
MGTS7803 aims to give students the skills and tools for doing strategic analysis, including the preparation of a strategic analysis for an organisation. To do so, the main theories and frameworks in strategic management will be presented, discussed, and applied to specific case studies. As a foundation course, this subject serves to develop in a holistic way an understanding of the key strategic issues facing many organisations, which will be further explored throughout your MBA across different disciplines and functional areas.

Task description
In this activity your team will analyse the strategy of two organisations of your choice and provide your recommendations for each of them for dealing with their strategic challenges in the future. The analysis should be summarised in a written report, maximum of 2,000 words (plus exhibits) and your team will also deliver an oral ppt presentation to the class, following the guidelines for this activity. Each student teams will be scheduled to present during one of the seminars.

Peer Review: Group members are expected to contribute equally, fulfilling the tasks agreed on. If there are disagreements in relation to team members' contributions that cannot be resolved, students must bring the problem to the attention of the lecturer as early as possible. Students can elect to undertake a Peer Review process, which can influence the marks of those who do not contribute to group work.
This assessment task evaluates students' abilities, skills, and knowledge without the aid of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). Students are advised that the use of AI technologies to develop responses is strictly prohibited and may constitute student misconduct under the Student Code of Conduct.

Task description
The reflection report is based on your performance of a live business case (online simulation), which will be run during a seminar.
You will be assessed on your reflection in response to three guiding reflective tasks, i.e., setting a strategy and objectives, reflections on your strategy execution and performance in relation to the objectives, and proposed changes to the strategy/objectives and/or execution.
The document should have a maximum length of 2,000 words, but you have the option to attach figures, tables or slides that may be necessary to support your analysis.
