Students participating in this placement will experience a real life working environment gaining exposure to the various roles and responsibilities that need to come together to bring a product to market. They will learn about the ethical and regulatory environment surrounding every step of the product's development. They will see one aspect and gain in-depth insight into that one area of the life cycle of the product. The aspects include: how clinical development plans are generated; the need for target product profiling; the management of various committees required to oversee safety profile of the product; how formulation and manufacturing are undertaken; clinical research trials; regulatory submission to name a few. This course will give the students an invaluable opportunity to not only see the actual practice of the theory they have learned in the previous 12 months, but actually be a part of it and understand how all the disciplines involved come together to work towards a common outcome which is ultimately the marketing of the product.
This course is the semester 1 course offering a placement in the pharmaceutical industry. This course is a component of the Master of Pharmaceutical Industry Practice.ᅠ

Task description
The performance evaluations are conducted on two occasions and are to be completed by the supervisors within the ePortfolio system. The performance reviews are worth 5% for the mid and 10% for the final performance review (total 15%). The performance evaluation is conducted by your workplace supervisor, or the person with designated authority on their behalf, and is intended to form part of a conversation with them regarding your performance. Due dates are specified in the personalised assessment schedule and submissions are through ePortfolio by that date. The submission from your supervisor (or nominee) will be automated through ePortfolio, please work with them to ensure it is completed. This evaluation is not a test but is an evaluation of your performance against the criteria over the placement to date. Students are advised to ensure supervisors return the evaluation; failure to do so can result in delays in grading, and failure to submit your review to your supervisor on time will result in a late penalty of 10% per day.
The feedback action plan is to be conducted with the mid performance evaluation only after receiving the evaluation, this is an exercise for you to decide on your actions and approach and will take only a few minutes to complete.
The marking criteria/rubric for this assessment task is available within ePortfolio.
