Students participating in this placement will experience a real life working environment gaining exposure to the various roles and responsibilities that need to come together to bring a product to market. They will learn about the ethical and regulatory environment surrounding every step of the product's development. They will see one aspect and gain in-depth insight into that one area of the life cycle of the product. The aspects include how clinical development plans are generated; the need for target product profiling; the management of various committees required to oversee safety profile of the product; how formulation and manufacturing are undertaken; clinical research trials; regulatory submission to name a few. This course will give the students an invaluable opportunity to not only see the practice of the theory they have learned in the previous 12 months, but actually be a part of it and understand how all the disciplines involved come together to work towards a common outcome which is ultimately the marketing of the product.
This course is the Semester 2 course offering a placement in the pharmaceutical industry. This course is a component of the Master of Pharmaceutical Industry Practice.

Task description
Performance Evaluations are conducted within the ePortfolio system on TWO occasions: mid-way through the placement and at the end of the placement, with due dates that are specified in your personalised assessment schedule. The performance evaluation is conducted by your supervisor in your workplace, or the person with designated authority on their behalf, and is intended to form part of a conversation with them regarding your performance.
Students must initiate the process by emailing supervisors directly through ePortfolio; you may be required to enter supervisor contact details. The due dates are in your personalised assessment schedule (see Blackboard) and your submissions through ePortfolio must be made by that date. The submission from your supervisor (or nominee) will be automated through ePortfolio and is not subject to a submission deadline, however students are advised to ensure supervisors return the evaluation, failure to do so can result in delays in grading. This assessment item is not a test but is an evaluation of your performance against the criteria.
A feedback action plan will be conducted with the first performance evaluation only.
The performance evaluations and feedback action plan contribute 5% for the mid review and 10% for the final review = 15%
