The key components of the program include:

  • Small group pharmacist-moderated online discussion forums.
  • Seminars (lectures and small group workshops).
  • Online learning modules including self-directed learning quizzes.
  • Learning portfolio – comprised of activities covering various topics including medication safety, counselling, conflict management, adverse medicine event reporting, extemporaneous product preparation and medicines information enquiry.
  • Case-based discussions undertaken in the workplace.
  • Personal reflections.
  • Learning Plan development.
  • Preceptor feedback and Intern Competencies Assessments.
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities including undertaking a health promotion, presenting a continuing education activity in the workplace, completing a medicines utilisation evaluation (MUE) and reflecting on individual cultural competency.
  • Evidence of 40 CPD points obtained during the Intern year.
  • Completion of training plan and development of future learning plan.
