A capstone course that requires students to work in teams to address one of the world's 'wicked problems' integrating political, philosophical and economic perspectives.
In this capstone course, students will learn to work in teams and produce both individual and joint research based on one of the world's 'wicked problems'. The approach will be systemic.ᅠ
You'll need to complete the following courses before enrolling in this one:
Minimum 32 units from the BPPE(Hons) list
Restricted to students in their penultimate or final year of the BPPE(Hons)
Consultation will be held during supervision time.

In the first four weeks students will form groups and choose a suitable topic to research, under the guidance of the course coordinator. In the first assessment, each student will individually present their work based on the topic chosen by the team. Presentations will be held in class on 20 and 27 August. All students are required to send their presentation slides to the course coordinator by 20 August at 4pm. The order of the presentations will be decided by the course coordinator.
This assessment task evaluates students' abilities, skills and knowledge without the aid of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). Students are advised that the use of AI technologies to develop responses is strictly prohibited and may constitute student misconduct under the Student Code of Conduct.
You cannot defer or apply for an extension for this assessment.
A penalty of 100% will apply for non-presentation.

Each team will jointly present their work. Each student of each team will present - the presentation will be a harmonic composition of the work produced by all members. Presentations will be held in class on 15 and 22 October. All groups are required to send their presentation slides to the course coordinator by 15 October at 4pm. The order of the presentations will be decided by the course coordinator.

Each student will submit an individual essay of 2,500 words, based on the topic chosen by team. Topics will have to be finalised by week 4. Each team member will tackle the chosen topic from a different angle. Team members are allowed to disagree with each other. The bibliography should be added at the end of the essay. The word limit includes all text, excluding solely figures, tables, photographs, and the bibliography. Half a point will be deducted from the final mark for every 100 words in excess of the limit. The essay is due on the 25th of October at 16:00.

You may be able to apply for an extension.
Extensions are limited to 7 calendar days to ensure that marks can be finalised on time.
A penalty of 10% of the maximum possible mark will be deducted per 24 hours from time submission is due for up to 7 days. After 7 days, you will receive a mark of 0.

A student’s final overall end of semester percentage mark will be rounded to determine their final grade. For example, 64.5% rounds to 65%, while 64.4% rounds to 64%.
