A team-based consultancy project opportunity where students will work in partnership with industry and community stakeholders to address a real-world problem. Students will experience entrepreneurial education in the classroom and be given opportunities to apply innovation and co-design solutions to pressing public health challenges.

In this work integrated learning (WIL) capstone course, students engage as consultants on real-world projects provided by an industry or community partner. In teams, students work in partnership with stakeholders ‘the client’ to apply innovation and co-design solutions to pressing public health challenges.

The course gives students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have obtained in their study of the MPH program, and to develop their employability skills as they work collaboratively to deliver key deliverables to their client. The Public Health Impact Lab is only available in a student’s final semester of MPH study. Whilst there is no GPA requirement, students are still required to submit a CV and undertake a brief interview as part of their enrolment process.

Students attend weekly 2-hour workshops held on campus. Internal students are encouraged to attend in person. There will be Zoom in the room to accommodate external students. Workshops are a critical opportunity for students to check-in with the client (as needed) as well as receive support and mentorship from the Course Coordinator as they create the client deliverables. Student teams are encouraged to also arrange a second weekly meeting to progress work on their project.
