This course is designed for final-semester students in the Master of Arts in Translation and Interpreting (MATI) program. It offers a hands-on opportunity to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application in a professional setting. Through a structured professional placement or an equivalent experience, students will engage with real-world challenges and expectations from industry. The course emphasises the development of essential employability skills: interpersonal communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability. Furthermore, students will cultivate a skill set that aligns with industry demands. They will learn to navigate professional environments, adapt to diverse work cultures, and contribute effectively to authentic workplace settings. By participating in this course, students will not only gain valuable work practice but also build a strong foundation for their future careers. Students who take TRIN7450 and/or TRIN7800 will need to choose other TRIN74XX courses in consultation with the Program Convenor.
This course aims to provide MATI final-semester students with the opportunity to apply conceptual knowledge to the real world through a professional placement experience. It strongly links discipline learning, personal employability skills and attributes students develop throughout their studies.

- using your knowledge and attributes;
- facing challenging work tasks;
- developing your graduate attributes;
- developing your employability and requesting and responding to feedback.
You might also include reflections on:
- the role and support of your supervisor;
- the role and support of your colleagues;
- your role and how you support others and add value;
- how you are reacting to being managed by your supervisor and others;
- the type of work you have been undertaking, and whether this is the type of work for the next stage of your career.
